About Us: A Legacy of Excellence Since 1977
The journey of Scientific Refrigeration commenced in 1977 when Earl Adams and Duane Robinson, both seasoned professionals in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry, joined forces to establish “Adams and Robinson Enterprises” (A&R Enterprises). Their collaboration, known affectionately as A&R Enterprises, began with side work for residential and commercial A/C and refrigeration, addressing the growing demand for independent contractors in the field.
Early Years and Foundation Building
During the early years, Duane, who previously worked as UCI’s Air Conditioning and Refrigeration head technician while teaching in Garden Grove School District, transitioned to working full time for A&R Enterprises as financial circumstances allowed. The duo tackled everything from household appliances to commercial freezers, laying the foundation for what would become a pioneering venture in laboratory equipment service.
Support and Growth
Integral to the success of A&R Enterprises were the unwavering support and contributions of Juanita Adams and Martha Robinson, the wives of Earl and Duane, respectively. Their dedication provided the financial, emotional, and moral backing crucial for the company’s growth. Martha, employed by V. Mueller Endoscopy, played a pivotal role in connecting Duane with Scientific Products, ultimately leading to the inception of Scientific Refrigeration in the early 1980s.
Evolution and Expansion
In 1987, Duane assumed sole ownership of Scientific Refrigeration, continuing the legacy forged with Earl. The company expanded its focus exclusively to medical and industrial laboratory equipment, earning recognition as a trusted service center for numerous manufacturers. Dwain Klingert and Stephen Toellner joined the team, becoming key figures in the laboratory refrigeration field. Martha Robinson became an integral part of the staff, directing the company’s activities alongside Duane.
Fast forward to today, as Duane and Martha Robinson have entrusted the daily operations to their daughter, Kimberly Robinson and their master technician Dwain Klingert. Having grown up in the business, Kimberly brings fresh enthusiasm and vision to take Scientific Refrigeration to new heights.

- Dwain Klingert: Serving as our Chief Technician, Dwain specializes in temperature chambers and ovens. Since joining in 1987, he has been an invaluable asset, contributing to our growth and success.
- Stephen Toellner: As our Senior Technician, Stephen is a maestro in temperature and humidity chambers, refrigeration, calibration, and validation. His tenure since 1988 marks a journey of unparalleled skill and knowledge.
While our team has grown to include many more technicians over the years, Dwain and Stephen remain steadfast pillars of Scientific Refrigeration. Their unwavering dedication and expertise have played a pivotal role in our evolution, helping us expand and thrive on our journey of continuous improvement. Together, they embody the enduring spirit of our company, contributing to our success story every step of the way.
